Augusta Avallone aka PENNY STARR, JR. has had a varied career:
Designer, Seamstress, Milliner, Indie Filmmaker, and award-winning Burlesque Dancer and Producer. It seems more like juggling than a ven diagram until you realize that the through line to all these diverse art forms is Storytelling.
Hailing from Philadelphia, with a film degree from Temple University (Go Owls!), Augusta made her way to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. Finding her way to the Costume Department, she has worked for almost 30 years, including such TV shows as CHUCK, JESSIE, BONES, OBI-WAN KENOBI, STAR TREK: PICARD and CHEIF OF WAR. She has designed indie films and theater, and burlesque costumes for performers from around the country. As an Indie Filmmaker, her film THE VELVET HAMMER BURLESQUE played almost two years on the festival circuit.
She is currently prepping a new web series about sewing and focusing on creating accessories, hats and toys that feature her sense of humor and craftsmanship.
